Butternut Pandowdy

OK, I usually shy away from recipes without some sort of nutritional cover for sweets, but this is a favorite from my youth that I can’t shake.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Bisquik
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup water or syrup from canned fruit
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Instructions
 

  • Combine Bisquik, nuts, and milk.
    Combine the balance of the ingredients and bring to a boil until sugar is dissolved and butter melted.
    Pat dough into 10" X 6" plan. Pour boiled syrup over dough.
    Bake 30 minutes at 350.

Notes

Consider using the syrup from candying orange peel or kumquats.
